Nature

An idyllic place to enjoy nature and take pleasure
in authentic rural and ecological life.

Casas del Naval is on a property of 44 hectars in the priviledged region of la Vera (Extremadura, Spain). It is at the foot of the awesome Sierra de Gredos mountain range and its highest peak, the Almanzor. It is set between the Gorges of Naval and Gualtaminos amongst forests of oak trees, holm oaks, olive groves, chestnut trees and plains of prairies.

The landscape is reminiscent of Arcadia. A blend of Mediterranean elements and the forests from the North, full of life, where water is abundant and where there is harmony between the fauna and flora and ecological cattle. An idyllic place to enjoy nature and take pleasure in authentic rural and ecological life.

The Four Seasons

Spring

The birds start to sing again whilst the fields turn green. The ash trees sprout, the Spanish broom blooms and everything is covered with rows of flowering wilderness.

Azaleas, roses and wisteria flower in the garden. The grass grows.

Summer

Hot and dry, yet bearable thanks to the microclimate. Lush vegetation provides shade and there is a constant flow of fresh water.

High temperatures incite the scent of aromas and the chanting of insects in the garden-even on cool nights.

The fields are full of sprigs, the green radiates from the arbutus and oak trees, whilst the prairies are all withered.

Autumn

An infinite hue of colours are represented mainly in the chestnut trees, the oaks and the ash trees.

The fallen leaves cover the garden with a bed of contrasts. This is mushroom season; boletus, saffron milkcaps, Caesar´s mushrooms and lepiotas.

The rain returns.

Winter

Cold temperatures but pleasurable under a poised and lagging landscape.

Brownish-greys and ochres dominate.
The light shines through the empty branches and sheds on the rivers, which run at their highest.

The fields await amidst frozen nights and clear morning.

Its Dwellers

Las Fincas del Naval follows the principles of organic production and thus raises a family of cows of the beautiful breed Cachena, a variety of ancient lineage and, today, an endangered species. Alongside lives a family of donkeys: Ramón, Milagritos and Luis; and a chicken coop with hens, pheasants and fowl. These animals rotate between the different properties of the estate and you should come across them during your stay according to which house you choose.

The main output of our activity is exceptional organic beef which we commercialise under the name of Cachenas de la Vera. Should you be interested in this produce, write to us at info@casasdelnaval.com and we shall send you information. If you like our cows, follow us on facebook : Cachenas de la Vera.

Las Casas del Naval are country houses and though they are clean you may come across mice, lizards, geckos, ants, spiders, moths and other creepy-crawlies. Should you be squeamish, we may not be the best option for you.
