From the high peaks of the snowy sierra flows the crystal clear water down these rocky walls – the Gorges of Gredos. The splashing water travels making magnificent natural pools.
La Vera is a treasure chest of charming villages where it seems time has not gone by. They are full of beautiful traditional architecture and surrounded by bountiful nature.
The Monastery of Yuste is surrounded by streams and groves blessing it with peace and quiet. This historic site is where Emperor Charles V wished to spend his final resting days.

Monfragüe National Park is one of Spain´s most interesting ornithological sites. Here one can observe the Imperial eagle, black vultures, or the black stork.
A popular tourist attraction, this fiesta of the Peropalo is one of the most picturesque and unique carnivals in Spain. Every year, an effigy, the Peropalo, is condemned in the village during Carnival and finally burnt.
A mosaic of landscapes: meadows, valleys, plains, mountains. Located in the north of the Cáceres province, it is immensely rich with birdlife.
The Tiétar Valley is a favourite spot for birdwatching, particularly of cranes. The Rosarito and Navalcán reservoir lies in the Mediterranean hills.
A religious ritual which dates back to the XVI century. An act of personal penitence, whereby the ¨empalao¨ dresses in ancestral attire, and walks in devotion and mystery down the streets of Valverde de la Vera on the nights of Easter Thursday and Good Friday.
Renown across the world for having a fabulous postcard cherry-blossom spring, it does however provide an endless offer of other activities to enjoy in this part of Extremadura.

Located on the border of the La Vera region on the banks of the Jerte river. It has a rich historic city center with numerous palaces with their coat of arms, and two cathedrals, one Romanesque, the other of the Renaissance.

The Chapel of the Virgen of Chilla is located on the hillside of the Sierra de Gredos amongst oak forests and with views to the Tietar Valley and the Arañuelo Field.
Archeological site of Castro Vetón de El Raso, in the slopes of the Gredos mountains. Inhabited in the Iron Age, towards the end of the III B.C. through the Roman conquest. A magical place in the mountains which opens at 10.30am until sunset.
